Lindor is coming off a 30-30 season for New York, his first such season in the majors. Overall, Lindor slashed .254/.336/.470 with an .806 OPS, the highest among qualified shortstops in the NL. He also had an another excellent season defensively, finishing seventh among MLB shortstops in DRS.

This is the second season in a row Lindor underwent surgery in the offseason as he had surgery after the 2022 campaign to relieve severe abdominal pain. Despite that, Lindor has played in 321 of a possible 324 games the last two seasons, missing only two contests this year after one in 2022.

Despite the team having disappointing finishes each season he has been in New York, Lindor has been as advertised since coming over in the blockbuster deal from Cleveland.  Assuming he is fully healthy, he will be one of the Mets’ position players locked into starting roles next season, along with Brandon Nimmo, Jeff McNeil, Francisco Álvarez, and Pete Alonso, assuming he is not traded.
