In the game Wednesday between the Kansas City Royals and the Chicago White Sox, shortstop Tim Anderson hit a home run off sophomore year starting pitcher Brad Keller and flipped his bat.

There has been a lot of controversy over this bat “flip.” It’s seen more in my eyes as a bat chuck. When Anderson hit his home run, he proceeded to chuck his bat over toward the White Sox dugout and scream something in the direction of the dugout. Some claim the comment was directed toward the catcher.

lIn his next at-bat in the sixth inning, Keller hit Anderson on the hip. As a result, both players and their respective managers, Ned Yost and Rick Renteria, were ejected from the game.

The MLB’s second “spicy” account, their self-claimed title, in @Cut4 tweeted out a video of the bat flip:

Anderson then spoke after the game about the bat flip, “I don’t have any rules. I play fun, I play to have fun, and I play with a lot of energy.”

The idea for this new “Let the Kids Play 2.0” movement was inspired by Hall of Fame outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. putting emphasis on not letting the unwritten rules in baseball “get in the way of personality.”
