What a night for Juan Lagares, who received his 2014 Rawlings Gold Glove before the game on Friday against the Miami Marlins. He became the first New York Mets player to win a Gold Glove since David Wright and Carlos Beltran were honored in 2008.

“That’s a very special one to me in my career,” Lagares said. “In my first full year in the big leagues, that’s very special.”

After the ceremony, the 26-year old Lagares took to center field and began going to work on his next Gold Glove, making three highlight reel catches, each one as spectacular as you would expect.

On running down the long drive off the bat of Christian Yelich that was going to be at least a double, Lagares said:

“He killed that ball. I just went with everything I’ve got. I had to jump and make a good catch.”
