The team has announced that center fielder Juan Lagares is heading to NYC for an MRI on Monday morning. After testing his rib cage injury before the game today, Lagares was inserted in the starting lineup.

However late in the game he felt it tighten up running the bases on Sunday, and he was replaced by Lucas Duda who ended up hitting the game winning home run for the Mets.

Matt den Dekker who was optioned to Vegas before the game is staying in town, writes Adam Rubin. He can only officially return though if Lagares goes to DL.

Hopefully, Lagares is okay and this is not something serious.

The Mets announced that center fielder Juan Lagares has been scratched from today’s lineup due to a right rib cage spasm.

Lagares said that it first flared up last night, but he aggravated it today swinging during batting practice.

Chris Young, who is batting .202 with a .289 on-base will start in center field instead this afternoon and bat leadoff.

I hope this is minor. Real minor…

We’ll have more on this as it develops…
