According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, New York Mets left-handed reliever Justin Wilson (left elbow soreness) “expects to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday, though he’s not sure how long it will last”.

Wilson, 31, signed a two-year, $10 million free agent contract with the Mets this offseason. Through ten appearances this season (9.1 innings), the southpaw owns a 4.82 ERA, 5.93 FIP, and -0.2 wins above replacement (FanGraphs) with nine strikeouts and four walks.

In Wilson’s absence, Mets skipper Mickey Callaway has trotted out the likes of Hector Santiago, Daniel Zamora, and Luis Avilan as potential left-handed replacements for one of general manager Brodie Van Wagenen’s primary additions this winter.

With Justin Wilson back in the mix, it could provide this up-and-down Mets bullpen with a bit more stability.

We’ll keep you posted as more information becomes available.
