Soon there will be another intriguing international talent to the list of available free agents for MLB teams, including the Mets.

The Kiwoom Heroes, of the KBO, have requested to MLB that outfielder Jung-Hoo Lee be posted. The expectation is that he will be officially posted in early December.

Lee, 25, projected by MLB Trade Rumors to receive a five-year, $50 million contract, is a left-handed hitting center fielder from South Korea who enjoyed his best season in 2022 when he was named KBO’s Most Valuable Player with 23 home runs and 113 RBIs while slashing .349/.421/.575.

In 2023, Lee injured his left ankle in July, which required season-ending surgery. In 86 games, Lee slashed .318/.406/.455 with only six home runs. He is projected to be ready for the start of Spring Training.

Lee is represented by the Boras Corporation, just like Pete Alonso. Will the conversations this off-season between the Mets and Scott Boras expand to include both players?

KBO posted players have 30 days to sign with an MLB team, a difference from NPB players, who have 45 days to sign with an MLB team. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, by comparison, is from the NPB.
