Las Vegas 51s reliever Josh Edgin has been sent to New York to have his left elbow examined after complaining of some soreness according to Betsy Halfand of the Review-Journal.

During the game, Vegas broadcaster Russ Langer said it wasn’t thought to be anything serious and more of a precaution.

Edgin has been working his way back from Tommy John Surgery that he had last year in March. He started his rehab stint on April 10th this season with the St. Lucie Mets and struck out seven in 4.1 innings for them while allowing only one run on two hits.

He’s been even better since joining the 51s on May 2nd, and in 8.2 innings he has yet to allow a run on three hits and four walks while striking out 11. Righties have gone 0 for 13 against him in the Pacific Coast League and he was successful in his only save opportunity.

His slider has been great so far but the concern has been with his fastball that’s been sitting in the 87-91 MPH range which is low for him. He last pitched on May 29th when he struck out one in a perfect inning.

In other 51s news, Dilson Herrera was not in the lineup last night without any injury or rest indication. It’s possible he could be on a flight to Miami as the Mets wait to see if David Wright can avoid a DL stint.
