New York Mets infielder Jonathan Villar exited the second game of Monday’s doubleheader with right calf tightness, manager Luis Rojas said after the game.

Villar, 30, appeared to be in some discomfort after legging out a double in the sixth inning, which led to him being lifted for a pinch runner. The calf tightness is in the same leg as the hamstring tightness he dealt with earlier this month, and Rojas said Villar will be reevaluated tomorrow.

The switch hitter has been a staple at third base for the Mets amid their injury issues this season. He leads the team in both stolen bases (eight) and doubles (10), while also having an OPS of .743.

Villar’s calf tightness is the latest injury for the Mets in what has been a brutal day on that front. Earlier today, right-handed pitchers Jeurys Familia (right hip impingement) and Robert Gsellman (right lat tear) were placed on the 10-Day IL. Additionally, left-handed starter Joey Lucchesi was diagnosed with a significant UCL tear that may require Tommy John surgery.

If that wasn’t enough, catcher Tomás Nido departed game one earlier Monday with an apparent injury after being hit on the wrist with a pitch, though Rojas said that initial X-rays did end up coming back negative.
