Joe Girardi appeared on his weekly spot with Mike Francesa of WFAN, and said he will know where he will be managing in 2020 in “a little over 48 hours.”

The 48-hour time period matches up to Thursday, which is the off-day of the World Series. This aligns with the knowledge that Major League Baseball frowns upon major announcements during the Fall Classic.

It should also be noted Girardi has been tabbed as the favorite for the Philadelphia Phillies managerial opening, and he recently had his second interview with the Mets.

At the moment, the Mets are scheduled to interview Nationals’ first-base coach Tim Bogar for the manager job the same day Girardi is purportedly going to be making a decision or announcement.

The Mets having a scheduled interview at the time Girardi is anticipated to select his next job doesn’t preclude them from hiring him; however, it could serve as an indication Girardi is further along in talks for another position. This puts the Mets in a position where they will need to accelerate their process if they truly want to hire Girardi.
