Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports is reporting that the New York Mets have signed right-handed reliever Jeurys Familia. The deal is pending a physical.

The deal is for three years according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports the deal is for $30 million.

Familia, 29, was traded by the Mets back in July to the Oakland Athletics for right-handed reliever Bobby Wahl, third base prospect Will Toffey and $1 million in international slot money.

The former Mets closer finished the 2018 season with a combined 3.13 ERA, 2.65 FIP, 1.22 WHIP, 18 saves and 1.5 bWAR. He struck out 83 compared to 28 walks in 72 innings between the A’s and Mets.

Familia was originally signed by the Mets in 2007, and made his major league debut for the team in September of 2012.

Familia could slide into the setup role before recently acquired closer Edwin Diaz.
