jerry blevins

The news for reliever Jerry Blevins was much worse than his other injured teammates today. The team announced that the recently acquired reliever will be in a splint for a minimum of six weeks as the result of a distal radius fracture in the left forearm.

Blevins suffered the injury on Sunday when he was struck by a line drive off the bat of Dee Gordon.

Assuming the injury healed properly and that Blevins is in no pain, he can begin light baseball activities once the splint is removed and doctors clear him after a reexamination.

Such a shame… He was off to a great start this season. Get well, Jerry…

The Mets announced that x-rays have revealed that reliever Jerry Blevins has a fractured left forearm.

Blevins suffered the injury after being hit on the forearm by a hard come-backer to the mound off the bat of Dee Gordon during Sunday’s game against the Marlins.

It’s a big blow for the Mets as Blevins had quickly established himself as a key weapon since being acquired from the Washington Nationals, and had retired all 15 batters he faced this season.

We’ll see which reliever the Mets call up to replace Blevins who could miss 8-12 weeks. It could be Vic Black who’s in Binghamton playing in rehab games.
