The New York Mets announced following Sunday afternoon’s 10-2 loss to the Miami Marlins that the following players have been informed they have not made the 2021 Opening Day roster:

Left-handed pitcher Stephen Tarpley has also been optioned to the Triple-A roster and will be heading to Syracuse for the Triple-A season in May.

One of the more surprising moves in this group is Arodys Vizcaino. The righty returned to the mound during Sunday’s loss and threw well, walking one, striking out one, and topping out at 98 MPH in a scoreless inning of work.

Vizcaino certainly seems like someone who could help this team after spending sometime at the alternate site.

Blevins said earlier in the spring that he was unsure if he would retire if he did not make the Opening Day roster, however the lefty tweeted this evening that he feels great and he will be reporting to the alternate site in Brooklyn.

Following Sunday’s roster transactions, the Mets now have 32 players in Major League Camp with just one day left of spring training. With Jacob Barnes likely making the roster, it appears as though there is one spot left in the Mets’ bullpen for either Mike Montgomery or Robert Gsellman.
