Jeremy Hefner threw today at the Mets Spring Training Complex in Port St. Lucie for the first time since undergoing Tommy John Surgery in late August.
Hefner, who announced via Twitter that he was cleared to play yesterday, made 20 tosses at 60 feet today and said he felt “great”, said Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.
I threw a baseball 173 days post-surgery.A lot of fun feeling those laces again. Looking forward to many more positive days. #mets #blessed

The 27-year old, who was re-signed to a minor-league contract with New York in January after being non-tendered, went 4-8 with a 4.34 ERA in 130.2 innings pitched in 2013 before being shut down with a torn elbow ligament.
