The New York Mets have officially announced that Jeff McNeil has been placed on the 10-day IL with a mild left hamstring strain and that Ruben Tejada‘s contract has been selected from Triple-A Syracuse.

To make room for Tejada on the 40-man roster, the Mets have transferred Jacob Rhame (ulnar nerve surgery in right elbow) to the 60-day IL.

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports that Jeff McNeil’s MRI revealed a mild left hamstring strain and should only miss the minimum 10 days on the IL. Mike Puma of the New York Post confirms that McNeil will be placed on the 10-day IL.

Deesha Thosar of The Daily News further reports that Ruben Tejada is on his way to Suntrust Park to be activated in time for the Mets’ game against the Braves on Wednesday night. Tejada will serve as McNeil’s replacement until McNeil can return to the team.

McNeil left the ninth inning of the Mets’ 5-3 loss to the Braves on Tuesday. He limped off the field after running out an infield hit and pushing all of his weight onto his left leg.

The 27-year-old is hitting .332/.400/.529 with 15 home runs and 55 RBI to give himself a 147 OPS+ and 4.3 WAR while splitting time between second base, third base, left field, and right field this season.

Tejada, 29, signed a minor-league deal with the Mets this past offseason and has done very well at Double-A Binghamton and mostly Triple-A Syracuse in 2019, hitting .337/.412/.486 with six home runs and 39 RBI.
