The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association named Jeff McNeil as the Mets 2019 Heart and Hustle Award winner.
McNeil, 27, is hitting .349/.410/.515 with 24 doubles, triple, eight home runs, 38 RBI, and 44 runs scored in 79 games for the Mets this season. He was also chosen for the All-Star game this year, his first full season in the majors.
This award honors active players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit and traditions of the game.
The Heart and Hustle Award is also the only award in Major League Baseball that is voted on by former players. The final winner will be announced on November 7, 2019 at the 20th Annual Legends for Youth Dinner in New York City.
