Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that Mets officials think it is likely that Jeff McNeil will have to be placed on the 10-day IL for his left hamstring injury, but won’t make any decision official until after looking at his MRI results on Wednesday afternoon.

Morosi also adds that, as previously mentioned, Ruben Tejada is likely to take the vacant roster spot.

Andy Martino of SNY reports that Jeff McNeil is having an MRI this morning in Atlanta for his left hamstring tightness in Tuesday night’s game.

If McNeil were to be placed on the 10-day IL, Martino hears that Ruben Tejada is a name being considered to take his spot.

Tejada, 29, signed a minor-league deal with the Mets this past offseason and has done very well at Double-A Binghamton and mostly Triple-A Syracuse in 2019, hitting .337/.412/.486 with six home runs and 39 RBI.

However, in his major league career, he has never done anything close to that, with a career .251/.325/.318 slash line in parts of eight seasons.

The Mets would certainly miss McNeil’s bat in the lineup if he were to miss any period of time as he is hitting .332/.400/.529 with 15 home runs and 55 RBI to give himself a 147 OPS+ and 4.3 WAR while splitting time between second base, third base, left field, and right field this season.
