The New York Mets announced that second baseman Jeff McNeil left tonight’s game against the Baltimore Orioles in the bottom of the second inning due to body cramps.

McNeil pulled up lame as he was trying to stretch a single to right centerfield into a double. The left-handed hitting second baseman was 2-for-2 with the Mets only two hits on the night.

Jose Peraza came on to replace McNeil at second in the top of the third.

The Mets have to hope this only a short-term injury, as their position player depth is getting very thin very quickly with both Luis Guillorme and J.D. Davis already on the injured list.

We’ll keep you updated when we hear more from Mets manager Luis Rojas following tonight’s game.
