Leading off the bottom of the ninth inning in the Mets’ 5-3 loss on Tuesday, Jeff McNeil grounded out to third, but more importantly he limped off the field clearly appearing to be in some degree of pain.

Tim Healey of Newsday reported that manager Mickey Callaway said McNeil’s left hamstring tightened up on him, and the extent of the injury will be further evaluated.

Losing McNeil would be a huge blow for the Mets, who are just on the brink of a Wild Card spot and need all the help they can get.
