As per a team announcement, the New York Mets have activated utility man Jeff McNeil off the 10-day injured list (hamstring) and inserted him back atop the batting order for the series opener versus San Francisco on Tuesday at Citi Field.

McNeil, 27, was slashing .333/.418/.461 with 13 doubles, a triple, two homers, 15 RBIs, a .379 wOBA, 142 wRC+, and 1.2 wins above replacement (FanGraphs) before hitting the IL on May 23.

Tyler Bashlor was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse as the corresponding move. The 26-year-old right-hander owns a 5.40 ERA with 12 strikeouts, seven walks over 13 appearances (11.1 innings) this season.

One noticeable absence from Tuesday’s transactions is second baseman Robinson Cano (quad), who was expected to return for the start of this current homestand.
