Justin Toscano of the Record reports that the New York Mets have activated Jeff McNeil from the 10-day IL prior to Wednesday night’s game against the Atlanta Braves, but is not in the lineup. Aaron Altherr has been DFA’d to make room for him on the active roster.

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com first reported he was at Citi Field awaiting a decision.

McNeil. 27, was dealing with a left hamstring strain that he suffered on August 13 by overextending it on a last-ditch effort stride to be safe at first base.

On the year, he has a .332/.400/.529 slash line with 15 home runs and 55 RBI to give himself a 147 OPS+ and 4.4 bWAR. He has split time between second base, third base, left field, and right field this season.

The infielder/outfielder appeared in a game for the Brooklyn Cyclones on Friday and went 1-for-4 with a run scored. He also played in Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday, but only got to the plate once due to the game getting suspended. He got hit by a pitch, stole second, and then scored.

Altherr, 28, has been abysmal this season hitting .082/.136/.164 with one home run and three RBI in 49 games split between the Philadelphia Phillies, San Francisco Giants, and New York Mets.
