The Mets introduced veteran infielder Jed Lowrie to the media on January 16 and it was during that event that GM Brodie Van Wagenen said the infamous, “Come Get Us.”
Well on Friday, Van Wagenen said, “they came and got us.” And Lowrie has still yet to play with a Mets uniform.
It’s does’t look like Lowrie will be on the field anytime soon as Van Wagenen told reporters on Friday that the infielder now has a low grade right calf sprain. He has been on the injured list the entire season with a myriad of injuries to his left side including issues from his hip down to his knee. There’s no timetable for his return.
Lowrie, a former client of Van Wagenen, signed a two-year, $20 million deal with the Mets in the offseason.
