Jay Bruce is not in the lineup tonight due to the same back tightness that removed him from last night’s game.

He hopes to be back in the lineup tomorrow and thinks the rest today will help. He also will not take BP today, according to Chris Bumbaca of MLB.com.

Original Report – May 24

Mets outfielder Jay Bruce left Tuesday night’s game against the San Diego Padres with back tightness, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com on Twitter.

Bruce, 30, was 1-for-3 at the dish this evening before exiting in the sixth inning, which DiComo speculates could be due to the awkward approach he took to the right field wall the previous inning.

There has been no word on the severity of the injury as of yet. Check back as more information comes in.
