According to Rosenthal on Twitter, in addition to Bruce, Curtis Granderson has also cleared waivers and is free to be traded to any team.
Granderson, 36, is in the final year of a four-year pact he signed prior to the 2014 season.
In 101 games for the Mets this year, Granderson has hit 14 homers and driven in 41 runs, while hitting to a .223/.330/.446 clip.
The outfielder has long been rumored to be on the trading block for the Mets and him passing through waivers make that all the more possible.

Jay Bruce has cleared waivers, Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reports. He can now be traded to any team.
Bruce, 30, was a prime candidate to move before the July 31 trade deadline, but for whatever reason, Sandy Alderson did not find a strong enough package for him in a weak market for sellers.
Bruce is having arguably the best offensive season of his career, slashing .262/.325/.531 with 29 home runs, third in the National League. He’s well on pace to break his career-best home run total of 34, and has a decent shot at cracking 40 (a somewhat rare feat lately).
Bruce is owed $4 million the rest of the year and becomes a free agent at season’s end.
