New York Mets outfielder Jay Bruce, who has been dealing with plantar fasciitis all season, came out of tonight’s game after the Mets hit in the bottom of the fourth inning with lower back discomfort.
Bruce, 31, is hitting .230/.305/.354 this season with three home runs and 15 runs batted in.
After signing a three-year, $39 million deal during the offseason, Bruce has had trouble reaching the levels of productivity he had in 2017 (.254/.324/.508, 29 homers, 75 runs batted in).
After Bruce exited, Brandon Nimmo, who hit a two-run homer earlier in the night, moved to right field and Jose Bautista entered the game, playing left field.
We’ll keep you posted as more details become available.
