Former Mets prospects and players Jason Isringhausen and Bill Pulsipher were inducted into the Binghamton Baseball Shrine prior to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies August 31 game. Isringhausen and Pulsipher are the 69th and 70th inductees to the shrine.

It’s fitting both pitchers were inducted together as they will be forever linked in Mets lore. Along with Paul Wilson, the trio was known as Generation K. The tales of Generation K began when Pulsipher and Isringhausen each helped pitch the then Binghamton Mets to the second league title in the franchise’s history.

The biggest story of that run was Pulsipher pitching the first ever no-hitter in the Eastern League playoffs. The no-hitter helped even up the championship series against the Harrisburg Senators in a series the B-Mets won 3-1.

Isringhausen was called up to join that team in late June. He’d pitch well in his 14 starts going 5-4 with a 3.02 ERA and a 1.094 WHIP. That was better than the stats Pulsipher, the staff ace, had accumulated. In Pulsipher’s 28 starts, he was 14-9 with a 3.22 ERA and a 1.333 WHIP.

After this season, Baseball America would rate Isringhausen the 37th best prospect in baseball and Pulsipher 12th. Both pitchers would make their MLB debuts in the 1995 season.

Now, in the 25th anniversary season of Binghamton’s second championship, they’ve honored their top starters by inducting them into their shrine. For those interested in seeing their plaque, they will be located in the concourse behind home plate at NYSEG Stadium.
