The New York Mets’ lineup suffered two injuries during yesterday’s victory against Miami. First, Starling Marte was lifted early in the game. He was replaced by Ender Inciarte. Shortly after, James McCann was replaced with soon-to-be game hero in Tomás Nido in the sixth inning.

The Marte injury caught several by surprise. Before being removed in the top of the fourth inning, the only plays Marte was involved in was a leadoff double to begin the game and one at-bat where he struck out swinging. It was announced during the game that he was lifted due to left groin tightness. No update on Marte was provided yet, as the team is still awaiting his test results.

McCann’s injury was much more apparent. After swinging around to tag out a diving Jesus Sanchez in the top of the sixth inning, McCann left the game with an apparent side injury. Despite the terrific play, it came at the cost of an injured-list stint for McCann. It was confirmed by Buck Showalter that McCann will miss at least 10 days with the oblique injury.

As a result, Patrick Mazeika is with the team today. Furthermore, no formal roster moves have been announced. However, with the return of Travis Jankowski on the horizon, it is likely he is back with the Mets sooner rather than later.
