Tim Healey of Newsday reports that the Mets have called up right-handed reliever Jacob Rhame and optioned Drew Gagnon to Triple-A Syracuse.

Gagnon, 28, relieved Steven Matz on Tuesday after he failed to record an out in the first inning. The former allowed six runs (five earned), seven hits, and one walk in 5 1/3 innings before being removed.

In turn, the Mets chose to bring up a fresh arm for today in Rhame. The 26-year-old has struggled in Syracuse so far this season, registering a 9.53 ERA and 1.588 WHIP in 5 2/3 innings so far. However, he has still been striking out hitters at a high clip as he has seven strikeouts thus far.
