New York Mets pitcher, Jacob deGrom pitched a great game Saturday night in the team’s 1-0 defeat of the Atlanta Braves in extra-innings.

Jake was as deGrominant as he had ever been so far this season in his longest start of the 2016 campaign. He went eight innings while not allowing a run to Atlanta. DeGrom allowed seven hits while walking one and striking out six.  He though took the no-decision and remains winless since April 30th. DeGrom though advises that the lack of run support is not bothering him.

“My goal is to go out there and put up zeroes and keep us in the ballgame,” deGrom said. “And so I think that makes it easy for me.” (ESPN)

Tonight’s no-decision adds up to 10 starts in a row now that deGrom has left without a win. His record currently stands at 3-4 with a 2.67 ERA. DeGrom looked to have just about every pitch going for him and was able to make the pitches necessary to refrain from any trouble. He was able to get the Braves to hit into three double-plays to kill any rally that may have been brewing. Manager, Terry Collins believes that deGrom is finally getting in a groove.

“Jake got off to kind of a rocky start,” Collins said. “But I think he’s starting to round into shape a little better. His arm is finally feeling better.”

Seeing deGrom look like his old self is an encouraging sign for this team, especially as the offense continues to struggle. This team is built around the greatness of their young staff and deGrom is part of the core who are looked to guide this team back to the promised land.
