New York Mets pitcher, Jacob deGrom finally was able to earn that elusive win as the team dominated the Chicago Cubs by a score of 10-2. Jacob sustained a 68-minute rain delay after the second inning to earn that win.

“I kept throwing just on and off, kind of like it was an inning, and just kept trying to stay loose,” deGrom said. (ESPN)

The deGrominator went five innings before giving way to another rain delay and would not return from there. He allowed three hits on the day while giving up just one run. Jacob looked dominant at times, striking out seven batters while walking just one. He has now fanned at least six batters in eight straight starts, which is tied with the Angels’ Matt Shoemaker for the fourth-longest active streak in the majors.

For once, his team was able to put some runs on the board for him, as he was able to pitch more freely without feeling one mistake will ruin the entire game for his team.

“Any time you can get runs, it’s nice,” deGrom said. “But, like I’ve said, I try not to think about that. I try to just go out there and put up zeroes.”

The win was deGrom’s fourth of the season and his first since April 30th as his record moved to 4-4. His ERA lowered down to 2.62 on the season as his WHIP moved down to 1.10. Although not seeming himself at times through the season, his stats are there and he is putting together quite a good 2016 campaign.
