asdrubal cabrera

New York Mets shortstop, Asdrubal Cabrera had a challenging June to say the least. Last night though was the first day of July, and as the calendar turned so it seemed did Cabrera as the Mets dominated the Cubs by a score of 10-2 Friday night.

Last night saw Cabrera hit two homers as he went 2-for-4 on the night with three RBI. Cabrera is the first Mets shortstop to record a multi-homer game since Jose Reyes did so on September 27, 2011. He now has 10 home runs this season. It’s the sixth season of his career that he’s hit 10 or more home runs.

The month of June was not kind to Cabrera as he hit to a rough .228/.297/.406 slash. Cabrera looks to break things out and get his bat back to where it has been through the majority of the season.

Overall on the year, Cabrera has been quite productive at the plate. His 2016 campaign has led him to an overall line of  .262/.321/.421 slash. To go along with those 10 homers, he has 27 RBI with 20 runs scored.

No one really expected Cabrera to be this productive as he has been quite a spark to this offense on numerous occasions through the season. He has become a key to this offense, and getting him going would be a big factor for this offense to sustain their recent success.
