Jacob deGrom threw at Citi Field today for the first time since July.

The star pitcher has not pitched since July 7 and is eligible to return from the injured list on Sept. 13.

deGrom underwent an MRI Wednesday. The results came back clean for deGrom to resume some light outfield throwing. GM Zack Scott said on Tuesday the MRI was a follow-up after a second two-week shutdown.

“Jacob was cleared to start playing catch,” manager Luis Rojas said. “He had an MRI this morning and the doctor gave him the green light after looking at the results and is playing catch for the first time today. We’ll see where we go from here. There’s not a progression yet on how things will go on but at least he got to play catch today and that’s great news for us.”

Before his injury deGrom reached new statistical heights amassing a 1.08 ERA across 15 starts. He earned apt comparisons to Bob Gibson and now hopes to make an impact before the season ends in early October.
