Jacob DeGrom Appears to Be Staying With CAA

News has begun to dribble out regarding New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom‘s future representation and all signs are pointing to deGrom staying with his current agency, albeit with a different agent.

DeGrom’s former agent, Brodie Van Wagenen, the former head of Creative Artists Agency’s baseball division, was named the general manager of the Mets earlier this month. Naturally, Jacob deGrom’s options were unlimited, but it appears as if the 30-year-old right-hander is staying with CAA, according to Andy Martino of SNY.

“[DeGrom’s] agent will be Jeff Berry. That’s who [Brodie] Van Wagenen will deal with on extension talks and anything else,” he wrote. “DeGrom was unclear last night.”

After winning the National League Cy Young Award in a landslide victory on Wednesday night, beating out Washington’s Max Scherzer and the Phillies’ Aaron Nola, this seemed like the next logical step in the best pitcher in baseball’s offseason agenda. Now that he’s got this hurdle cleared, let’s get down to business and pay that man his money.
