J.D. Davis has been placed on the 10-day IL with a hand contusion after being hit by a pitch, the Mets announced on Saturday. The move is retroactive to April 7.

In his place, infielder Jose Peraza was selected to the major league roster and will be active for Saturday’s game against the Marlins at 1:10 p.m. Peraza has major league experience with the Dodgers, Reds and Red Sox, and has aa .270/.310/.372 line in 2005 plate appearances.

In a corresponding move, Mets starting pitching prospect Franklyn Kilome was designated for assignment. Kilome, 25, hasn’t pitched a minor league game since 2018 with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, shortly after he was acquired from the Phillies for Asdrubal Cabrera. He underwent Tommy John surgery, and pitched four games for the Mets in 2020, allowing 14 runs in 11 1/3 innings.

While Kilome was once considered one of the Mets’ top prospects, his surgery and the pandemic have given him a tough break. It will be interesting to see what happens with him going forward.
