Additional information is circulating regarding Major League Baseball’s investigation of Billy Eppler.

In addition to improper use of the injured list, MLB is now also investigating manipulation concerning rehab assignments from the 2022 and 2023 seasons, per the New York Post

MLB was tipped off about Eppler’s alleged actions via an anonymous letter.

Eppler may meet for the first time with MLB concerning these allegations as early as this week.

Commissioner Rob Manfred has to receive a final report from his investigative unit before issuing penalties, including suspensions, fines, and potential loss of draft picks.

Eppler, the Mets, and MLB have refused comment on the investigation thus far.

Wait, there is more.

The New York Post reports Eppler was going to be fired by the Mets if he did not resign as general manager.  David Stearns was not made aware of the Eppler investigation before his October 2 introductory press conference, but the team surmised that it would be best if Stearns commenced his tenure without this distraction.

Eppler is being paid for the remaining two years of his contract that he signed with the Mets in November of 2021.
