History was made in Cleveland today as the Indians defeated the Tigers, securing their 21st consecutive win. It is the longest winning streak in American League history, and the longest winning streak since the 1935 Cubs won 21 straight as well.

After the Tigers got out to an early 1-0 lead in the first, former Met Jay Bruce countered in the bottom of the frame with an opposite-field three-run home run.

Cleveland used five pitchers in the win. The starting pitcher Mike Clevinger improved to 10-5 on the season with the win, and Cody Allen recorded his 27th save of the season.

The longest winning streak in MLB history belongs to the 1916 New York Giants who won 26 straight games.
