Angels Add Cahill To Rotation

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Angels and Trevor Cahill have agreed to a one year deal worth $9 Million with incentives that can help it reach $10.5 Million.

Cahill, 30, spent last season in Oakland with the A’s, starting twenty games and becoming an anchor for a 97 win rotation in a post-season stretch. Cahill went 7-3 with a 3.76 ERA over the aforementioned twenty starts. His best stretch came in May when he threw twenty-six innings to a 1.73 ERA.

Nationals Sign Sanchez To Two-Year Deal

As per MLB Network contributor Anthony Fenech, the Nationals and Anibal Sanchez agreed to a two-year $19 Million deal.

Sanchez saw a career revival last season, going 7-6 with a 2.83 ERA over 24 starts for the Braves and was a pivotal piece to their rotation. This all came after posting a 5.67 ERA from 2015-2017 after joining the Braves on a minor league deal in the post-2017 off-season.

Mariners Interested In Japanese Ace

According to Jon Morosi of Fox Sports, the Mariners are “interested in signing Yusei Kikuchi, assistant GM Justin Hollander confirmed on MLB Network Radio today.”

The Mariners are always active in the Japanese Free-Agent Market, so this rumor should come as surprise to no one. The Mariners were connected to Shohei Othani last off-season, and could very much so use some rotation help after dealing James Paxton to the Yankees over a month ago.

Brewers, A’s Add Piece

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Brewers have signed the versatile Cory Spangenberg to a one-year deal. He hit .258/.318/.391 in five season with the San Diego Padres. Brewers needed depth after non-tendering Jonathan Schoop (went on to sign with Twins).

According to Rosenthal, the A’s are closing in on a deal for right-handed reliever Joakim Soria. The 34-year-old had a 3.12 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 60.2 innings in 2018 between the White Sox and Brewers.

Other moves from Thursday included the Rockies signing Daniel Murphy, Andrew Miller closing in on a deal with the Cardinals and the Mariners signing Zac Rosscup.
