Nats Reunite With Slugging Adams
According to his own personal twitter account, Matt Adams has announced that he is resigning with the Washington Nationals for the 2019 season.
Adams spent the first half of last season with the Nationals before being traded to the Cardinals at the deadline to help on their playoff run.
Adams has become much more versatile the last couple seasons, playing first base, left field, and right field over the course of the season. Adams will turn 31 next August.
Cubs Land Utility-Man Descalso
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Cubs and super utility infielder Daniel Descalso agreed to a two-year contract yesterday morning.
Descalso, 32, debuted in 2011 with the Cardinals and won the 2012 World Series with them. He has spent the last two years of his career with the Diamondbacks, making the playoffs in 2017. Prior to that, he Descalso spent two years in Denver with the Rockies.
Descalso’s deal is worth $5 million over two years and contains a club option for a third year. Desclaso also drew interest from the Cardinals, but ultimately decided against a reunion with St. Louis.
Angels Ink Former-Met Harvey
Years after drafting him out of high school, the Angels have inked Matt Harvey to a deal. According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, Harvey and the Angels agreed to a one-year deal worth $11 Million, and up to $3 Million extra in incentives.
The Angels originally drafted Harvey in the third round of the third round of the 2007 draft, but he decided to go to UNC and was drafted by the Mets three years later.
Harvey spent the brunt of the 2018 season with the Reds, where he went 7-7 with a 4.50 ERA in 24 starts after being traded there from the Mets. Harvey will be 30 come opening day, and will likely hit the market again next winter.
