The Mets continued their torrid hot streak with their seventh straight win after beating the Indians 6-4 to sweep the three game set. It was the second consecutive road sweep for the Mets who keep finding new ways to win.

Game Summary

R.A. Dickey improves to 5-0 after another solid start. Tonight he knuckled down and toughed out six innings and allowed just two earned runs on seven hits and two walks despite not being as sharp as he had been in his last few starts. He did manage to strike out seven batters. Dickey tied a club record for a Mets starter by winning his first five decisions. Bobby Ojeda (1986), Armando Reynoso (1997) and Kenny Rogers(notes) (1999) also did it. Hey, this guy just goes out there every five days and keeps winning… Five wins from R.A. Dickey…. who woulda thunk it?

Pedro Feliciano pitched the seventh inning and gave up a run on two hits, and Elmer Dessens pitched a perfect eighth. Of course Rodriguez came in to close it out with his 15th save of the season. striking out the side for all three outs.

The Mets are 27-6 when Jose Reyes scores a run, and tonight Reyes was an absolute catalyst going 3-5 including a double, a triple, two runs scored and an RBI. Reyes is definitely back and once again he is wreaking havoc on the basepaths and driving opposing pitchers and defenses insane.

Ike Davis also had a great game, picking up a couple of hits including a runs scored and two rib-eye steaks. Chris Carter started at DH again and chipped in with two more hits, and even Ruben Tejada picked up a couple of hits and a run scored.

It’s the seventh consecutive win for the Mets and they improve their record to 38-28, putting them ten games over .500 for the first time this season. This is getting exciting!

Game Ball

The Mets have won 7 in a row, so who better to give the game ball to than #7 Jose Reyes who had a spectacular night all around. Reyes scored two runs, which history tells us, more often than not results in a win. Reyes also had three hits and one RBI.
