According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, despite the early season struggles leading to the firing of hitting coaches Chili Davis and Tom Slater on Monday night, New York Mets manager Luis Rojas’ job with the club remains safe.
Heyman notes that Mets acting General Manager Zack Scott told him via phone on Tuesday afternoon, that the Mets have “no plans to make a change. I want this to work,” he said.
Following the firing of 2 of Luis Rojas’ coaches, and with the team underachieving to this point after the 2020 disappointment it may seem like a target is on Rojas’ back. But Mets acting GM Zack Scott said by phone: “There are no plans to make a change. I want this to work.”

The Mets come into play on Tuesday with an 11-12 record, and are tied for second with the Philadelphia Phillies, just 0.5 games behind the Washington Nationals for first place in the National League East. While the pitching staff has gotten off to a relatively strong start to the 2021 season, the offense has had a bit of a hard time getting going.
It should also be noted that Rojas, who was hired by the previous regime, has not yet had his club option for the 2022 season picked up.
When asked about that team option a few weeks ago, Scott told reporters, “It’s not something I’m focused on. I know it’s not something Luis’ focused on. We’re focused on winning on the field.”
