On Tuesday night, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic provided the latest on the ongoing negotiations between the MLB Players Association and MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred. According to Rosenthal, multiple rule changes were being discussed and would be put in place as soon as the 2019 season.

However as Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports has reported this afternoon, the early word is that these proposed rules changes are very unlikely to be implemented anytime soon.

Some of the changes proposed included a switch to 26-man rosters, as well as a reduction of September 40-man rosters to 28 players, and bringing back the 15-day DL to replace the 10-day DL currently in place.

Perhaps the biggest changes being discussed included a 20-second pitch clock, the potential addition of a designated hitter spot in the National League, as well as a rule making it mandatory for a pitcher to face three batters before being replaced.
