The list of Mets managerial candidates grows smaller.

In addition to Brad Ausmus, who is now out of consideration for Mets manager according to Jon Heyman of Fan Rag, as well as Robin Ventura who has not shown interest in the opening, Chip Hale and Bob Geren are also no longer in the mix, sources told Newsday.

Hale and Geren have often been tied to the Mets due to their history with the team, but won’t be returning to Queens anytime soon.

Hale, 52, was the bench coach for New York during the 2010 and 2011 seasons and was at the helm for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2015 and 2016. He currently serves as the third base coach for the Oakland Athletics.

Geren, 56, is currently the bench coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers and served in the same capacity for the Mets from 2012-15. He was previously the manager of the Oakland Athletics from 2007-11.

The team’s hitting coach Kevin Long interviewed for manager last week, while Alex Cora reportedly interviewed for the job Tuesday.

Former Met infielder Joe McEwing will meet with Mets officials Wednesday and Mickey Callaway and Manny Acta are also scheduled for interviews.
