Mets starting pitcher Seth Lugo has been placed on the 10-day disabled list (retroactive to August 11) with a right shoulder impingement. Robert Gsellman, who has been rehabbing a hamstring injury, will start Wednesday in his stead.

Lugo, 27, has had an up-and-down season for the Mets as he heads to the disabled list for the second time in 2017. In 12 games he’s gone 5-3 with a 4.85 ERA, 4.47 FIP and 1.413 WHIP. In 68.2 innings he’s struck out 52 and walked 20.

Gsellman, 24, has been disappointing overall after a strong debut last season. In 17 games (14 starts) he’s 5-5 with a 6.16 ERA, 5.08 FIP and 1.618 WHIP. In 76.0 innings he’s struck out 57 and walked 26.

Also, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Fernando Salas will no longer be pitching for the Mets as they have requested release waivers for him. The 32-year-old was ineffective for the Mets this season going 1-2 with a 6.00 ERA, 4.40 FIP and 1.778 WHIP in 48 appearances.
