Mets reliever Erik Goeddel has begun throwing off a mound at the team’s complex in Port St. Lucie, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.
Goeddel, 26, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 12 after an MRI revealed a right elbow strain. The right-hander had been complaining of soreness and pain.
A 24th round draft pick in 2010, Goeddel was having an impressive season out of the Mets bullpen before the injury, posting a 1.96 ERA and 1.041 WHIP over 23 innings with seven walks and 23 strikeouts.
