It was a heck of a year for Mets Merized Online in 2010, and we are already off to an even bigger year in 2011. It’s been about 10 months since the last time I shared some information about MMO, and I’m very excited to share some of our year end and current stats with you.

In 2010, we tallied over 30 million page views for the year and averaged over 10,000 unique users per day. Our readers are among the most interactive in the Mets blogosphere and they truly love to discuss and debate the Mets. We had over a quarter million comments on MMO last year.

So far in 2011, we are still growing exponentially and are now averaging 131,417 daily page views, from over 11,500 unique users each day. If those averages hold, and I believe they will, we can surpass 50 million page views in 2011. Wow!

Those are remarkable numbers for a fan site that basically covers just one team. We now have 2,839 followers on Twitter –  doubling in size from a year ago, and we added 500 new friends on Facebook last year.

By now you must have noticed how much faster the site loads. That’s because we have outgrown the shared hosting and virtual servers we’ve used since 2006 and have now splurged for a dedicated server for 2011. Yes, it’s a costly proposition for us each month, but you’re all worth it and your donations keep this site chugging along. We are happy to say that we haven’t had our site crash once since January 1st. It’s a wonderful feeling, after experiencing over a dozen crashes in November and December alone due to traffic spikes of 5,000 or more users at the same time.

To grow as big as we have. and to have done it without the benefit of a large corporate sponsor or giant blog network is a testament to our commitment to delivering all Mets opinions regardless of how popular or unpopular they may be, and always keeping our content fair and balanced. Our goal has always been to represent the entire fanbase and not just a segment of it. When you go to a ball game, they don’t separate the young and the old, the saber and non saber, or the optimists from the pessimists. We roll the same way here at MMO.

We go into a new baseball season with some great new bloggers like Jim Mancari, Craig Lerner, Ben Yoel, Brandon Butler, Robert Knapel and Clayton Collier who will add even more depth and diversity. They join a solid lineup that includes notable Mets bloggers like Taryn Cooper, Ed Leyro, Joe Spector, Stephen Hanks, Rob Johnson, Michael Branda and Rob Silverman, just to name a few. They keep our site constantly updated with unique and original content, and compelling dialog.

Our lifeblood is you – our Amazin’ readers. You keep this site alive with non-stop interaction and the most engaging debates you won’t see anywhere else. That’s the beauty of our community. Our rich diversity in opinions reflects the passion of an “entire” fanbase and not just “a part” of it. We are truly Metsmerized!

On behalf of everybody at MMO, I want to thank all of you for your tremendous support this past year. I am so honored and privileged to be part of a Mets fan site that is supported by some of the most passionate, knowledgeable and articulate fans in the Mets Blogosphere. You have helped transform a simple fan site into a thriving Mets community that continues to grow each day, and I can’t thank you enough for that.

As a way of saying thank you, we will be giving away some Amazin’ Mets Prizes all week long beginning later today!

We have a few great contests lined up and all of you will get a chance to win some great Mets Prizes including some autographed baseballs from the players, Mets caps, some great Mets books and cool Mets merchandise, and several gift certificates and discount coupons to some of the best Mets eateries in the city!

It’s our way of saying thank you for all of your tremendous support!

Lets Go Mets!
