Michael Conforto delivered decisive blow against the Dodgers with a grand slam off Scott Alexander during the Mets’ 7-3 win. Conforto’s blast gave the Mets a 6-2 lead that New York would hold onto to for the rest of the night.

Conforto also drove in a run in the first inning on a fielder’s choice. He finished the night 1-for-4 with five RBI and a walk.

Todd Frazier contributed to the Mets’ attack with a solo homerun in the third inning that tied the game 2-2. Frazier finished the day 2-for-4 with one RBI and a walk.

In the eight inning, Amed Rosario extended the Mets’ lead to 7-3 with a RBI triple. Overall, Rosario collected two hits and a walk in three at-bats out of the leadoff spot.

Carlos Gomez also had a solid night at the dish as he went 3-for-5 with a run scored.

Pitching

Steven Matz pitched solid six innings while allowing two runs and striking out six. Matz’s only mistake was allowing a two-run homerun against Cody Bellinger in the third inning.

Robert Gsellman escaped major trouble in the seventh inning after allowing Will Smith and Alex Verdugo to reach base to start the inning. Though he yielded a RBI single to Matt Beaty, he limited the damage by punching out Joc Pederson and Justin Turner and getting Bellinger to fly out to end the inning.

Jeurys Familia also worked out of a jam in the eighth inning as he got Will Smith to ground out into a double play after allowing to runners on base.

While Edwin Diaz gave up double to Verdugo in the ninth inning, he retired the next three batters in order to end the game.
