Todd Frazier continued his rehab assignment today in Triple-A Syracuse and played pretty well, going 2-for-3 with a double, RBI, and a run scored.

Frazier, 33, split the game between first and third base, playing four innings at third base to start the game and then transitioning to first base for the last three innings of his appearance in Syracuse’s first game of their doubleheader.

The Mets are currently carrying eight relievers, meaning that they are currently working with only four bench players. It was more problematic the last few days as Brandon Nimmo was unavailable with a neck injury, meaning they were essentially playing with three bench players one of which was the catcher that wasn’t playing in a given game.

Mickey Callaway has said that Frazier won’t necessarily be a starter upon his return to the team. He likely will play third base mostly, but might occasionally play first base as well.

It also appears that Frazier will serve as the team’s backup shortstop, given the fact the team gave him some in-game reps during his rehab assignment at the position.
