According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, both Todd Frazier and Travis d’Arnaud continued to make progress in their return to the big league club. On Monday afternoon, both players took the field at extended spring training in Port St. Lucie.
Frazier, who is recovering from a strained oblique, played five innings in the field at third base and went 2-for-5. In the same game, d’Arnaud caught nine innings behind the plate, for the second time in the past three days, and went 0-for-3 with a walk.
d’Arnaud played just four games last season, before he was forced to undergo Tommy John surgery. He had a pretty solid 2017 season at the plate, as he hit 19 doubles and 16 home runs, while posting a .735 OPS.
The 33-year old Frazier is coming off a career worst, injury plagued season. At the plate, he smacked 18 home runs, 18 doubles, 59 RBI. He also posted a 95 OPS+ and .693 OPS over 115 games. Defensively, he was accountable for a 1.9 WAR, 2.4 UZR, and two defensive runs saved.
Both players are currently on the 10-day injured list, and have no timetable for a return to big league action.
