According to Andy Martino of the Daily NewsFrank Francisco advised Jenrry Mejia to remain in Port St. Lucie to collect his Major League disabled list money during the rehab process, rather than work his way back by playing in minor league games.

The team source told Martino that Mejia opted to tune out Francisco and instead work his way back to the majors – a decision that resulted in a brilliant seven inning effort in his 2013 debut.

Wow…

If this report is true, the real question is why is he still with the organization?

I know, I know, it’s because they can’t cut him until he’s activated from the disabled list or just wait until his contract expires.

But still… What a _____________!  Fill in the blank…

What the Mets can do however, is make sure that Francisco is not in any position to negatively influence any more of our players.

The $12 million dollars Francisco got from Sandy Alderson is by far Sandy’s biggest expenditure as GM of the Mets and also his worst.

By the way, Jenrry Mejia just shot up to the top of my favorite Mets list…
