New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor has officially arrived in Port St. Lucie. The first full team workout doesn’t take place until Monday morning, but the star has already begun receiving rave reviews from those around the club.

While speaking with the media this afternoon, Mets manager Luis Rojas said it was great to finally see Lindor donning the orange and blue.

“I’ve seen a bunch of pictures out there of him in the uniform, but to actually see him in person wearing the Mets uniform is very exciting… Great personality, he was smiling, of course. I’m looking forward to seeing him with the whole squad tomorrow,” Rojas said.

“He brings a lot to the table, and I’m learning that. He likes to get involved, he likes to see where we need to get better at, and things like that. We’ve had those conversations already. This experience of being a great teammate, or having teamwork at the highest level. I think it’s what he’s bringing here, as well, along with all the incredible tools,” the second-year skipper added.

Rojas wasn’t the only member of the Mets praising the newly acquired shortstop on Sunday. Mets catcher Tomas Nido grew up playing little league with Lindor in Puerto Rico, and he told reporters that it’s “an honor to be on the same team as him.”

“I’m very excited, and I’m excited for everyone here to get to play with him. He’s a leader inside and outside the field, his qualities have an effect on everybody. He has a Nimmo kind of style, where he’s always happy and smiling. His leadership will have an effect on everybody here,” Nido added.

Between the talent and personality, the future of the new shortstop of the New York Mets looks almost as bright as his smile.
