The Mets top prospect, Francisco Alvarez, is now the number two prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline.

The catcher has continued his torrid rates at the plate and was recently promoted to Triple-A Syracuse where he made his debut on Monday, going 1-for-3 with an RBI, walk, and a strikeout. Additionally, he threw out a runner at second base.

Alvarez jumped up four spots in MLB Pipeline’s rankings and now only trails Detroit Tiger outfielder Riley Greene on the Top-100 list.

Greene has already made his MLB debut and will graduate from the list when he reaches the 45 days of MLB service time threshold. That means Alvarez will soon be the top prospect in all of baseball.

MLB Pipeline explains their ranking of Alvarez by pointing out he’s joining the upper level of the minors for the first time and might not be done with his promotions this season. Take in him being just 20 years old and playing a premium position, “you get arguable the best prospect left in the Minors.”

This year in Binghamton, Alvarez played 67 games. He slashed .277/.368/.553 with 18 home runs and 47 RBIs.

Joining Alvarez on MLB’s updated list is Brett Baty at No. 22 (-1 spot), Ronny Mauricio at No. 54 (+9 spots), and Alex Ramirez at No. 90 (+1 spot).

No Mets that were in the Top 100 fell off and no new names were added.
